The thermal stability of ZSM-5 zeolite is very high. This is caused by the stable five-membered ring and high silicon-to-aluminum ratio in the framework. For example, after the sample is fired at about 850°C for 2 hours, its crystal structure remains unchanged. It can even withstand high temperatures of 1100°C. ZSM-5 is one of the most thermally stable zeolites. Therefore, it is particularly suitable for high-temperature processes. For example, using it as a hydrocarbon cracking catalyst can withstand the high temperature when regenerating the catalyst.
